E-TEAM LEARNINGS BELIEVES IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE.

Although living in a world of four billion other persons, the individual has a distinctive place in her/his environment, to study, to reason, and to decide where he/she stands on all subjects affecting her/his life and actions.

When an individual seeks to do her/his share in society, he/she finds himself/herself amid organizations of massive size and complexity. The reaction 'There's nothing I can do that will matter is something for every individual to avoid. Being independent does not mean being indifferent or neutral on matters of private or public interest.

Every movement that has become great, and every advance made in civilization, started with an individual and was carried to completion by innumerable individuals expressing their individuality in cooperative action.

THANKS FRANK!

In 1878 Frank Winfield Woolworth was an assistant in an American general store, in charge of a 5-cent trading table.

While assisting customers in making their purchases Frank had the idea of setting up a store that was stocked exclusively with 5-cent products.

In June 1879 Frank opened his first store in Utica, New York, but it was a failure. Frank still believed in his idea, tried again in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and was successful. Because of the popularity of his 5-cent store, Frank tried adding 10-cent products. This was well accepted by the public and Frank opened more stores.

In February 1905 "F. W. Woolworth & Company" was formed, and in 1909 Frank opened a chain of stores in England. He referred to these as his "Three and Sixes" stores (three and sixpence being the closest currency equivalent to five cents and ten cents). By 1912 Frank had 596 operating in 37 states in America.

When members of the E-Team read about Frank Woolworth’s groundbreaking idea we wondered what Frank’s 5 cents would be worth today.

We found that Frank’s 5 cents (or three pence) would now have the equivalent purchasing power of approximately $1.50, with his 10 cents or sixpence now worth about $3.00. We considered Frank’s ground-breaking initiative and decided that it was very similar to today’s $2.00 shop structures, and thought that it was worth a try.

We believe that our new price points of $2.00, $4.00 and $6.00 will now provide excellent value to more learners and their families around the world.

We are also offering a refund or credit to all customers who previously purchased our resources.

We say “Thanks Frank” for pioneering this win-win-win relationship.

TESTIMONIALS

"I am very pleased that such an initiative has been taken to educate the future generations at an early age."

Jacqueline Aloisi de Larderel

Director of United Nations Environment Program.

"I would like to offer my endorsement for this wonderful program."

Ike Naqui OAM

JP Save the Children Fund.

"The concept is very exciting. It has imagination and above all sounds as though it will provide the teacher and student with encouragement and empowerment to be creative in their approach to teaching and learning.

One of the greatest enemies of teaching and learning is the constraints that discourage the participants from moving across disciplines along knowledge pathways.

In this program, progress towards knowledge is not measured as a competitive achievement but rather as an empowering process, with outcomes that benefit teacher and student.

Margaret Moore

National Coordinator World Wide Fund For Nature.

The materials speak strongly to practicing teachers working under pressure."

Warren Brewer

"During my extensive travels throughout the world, I have neither discovered nor observed any initiative that is as extensive, highly integrated, or as thoroughly planned and developed ..."

Professor Donald Huisingh Lund University

Robin Crawley

Executive Director, Banksia Environmental Foundation.

"Your presentation at the HABITAT Congress on Sustainable Development and the display of education materials generated a lot of comment and discussion.

There is no doubt that environmental education will play a major role in the development of the HABITAT region and we are delighted to have the Education Professionals as a partner in this exciting project - which hopefully will become a role model for schools and communities in Vitoria, in Australia and throughout the World.

The simple explanation of a sustainable society often quoted, meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

This is a simple and accurate statement but to achieve the goal of ecological sustainability we must give our children a strong and sustaining education in all aspects of the environment - and the HABIT Trust believes that The Education Professionals have the programs to do this.
